How to Choose a Cavapoo Breeder: 10 Essential Things to Look For
Choosing a Cavapoo puppy is an exciting decision, but finding the right breeder is just as important as finding the right puppy.
With Cavapoos becoming increasingly popular, families have more breeders and puppy listings to choose from than ever before. Beautiful photographs can make it tempting to focus on coat colour, size or availability, but there are much more important things to consider when choosing where your puppy comes from.
A responsible Cavapoo breeder should be open about their dogs, health testing, puppy care, early socialisation and the way their puppies are prepared for life with their new families.
If you are searching for a Cavapoo breeder, this guide will explain 10 important things to consider before making your decision.
HOW TO CHOOSE A CAVAPOO BREEDER: 10 THINGS TO LOOK FOR
Look at the Health Testing
Learn About the Puppy’s Parents
Ask How the Puppies Are Raised
Understand Their Socialisation Approach
Look Beyond the Puppy Photographs
Ask About Early Training
Find Out About Veterinary Care
Ask What Your Puppy Comes Home With
Understand the Support You Will Receive
Take Your Time Before Choosing
In the past, families often had to rely on a basic website, a short visit or a handful of conversations to understand how a breeder raised their puppies.
Today, families have far more opportunities to look behind the scenes.
Responsible breeders can share their approach through photographs, videos, regular updates and genuine glimpses into everyday life with their dogs and puppies. These insights can help prospective families understand not only what the puppies look like, but how they are raised and cared for.
With working and sporting breeds, breeders may demonstrate their dogs’ abilities through training, competitions, working environments and recognised achievements. These provide useful insight into the qualities and purpose behind their breeding programme.
Companion breeds deserve the same level of consideration.
When researching a Cavapoo breeder, look for more than beautiful puppy photographs. Take an interest in the breeder’s dogs, their health testing, their living environment, their approach to socialisation and the experiences puppies receive before going to their new homes.
A thoughtful breeding programme should be something a breeder is comfortable sharing and explaining. Over time, those details can give families a much clearer picture of the care, preparation and principles behind the puppies they are considering welcoming into their lives.

When choosing a breeder, don't just listen to what is said- pay attention to what is consistently shown.
Three Things to Look for in a Great Cavapoo Breeder
A No Pressure Approach
The best decisions are rarely rushed. Great breeders focus on long term fit, not fast placements.
Look at the Community They Have Built
Happy families stay connected after bringing their puppy home.Ongoing updates, reviews, photos, and a relationship often reflect a positive long term relationship.
It Should Feel Personal, Not Transactional
A good breeder takes the time to get to know you. They should visit with you about your lifestyle, your goals, and expectations – not simply process a deposit and move on.
Questions Families Ask About Our Program
Every family deserves honest answers. Here are the questions we hear most..
How long have you been breeding Cavapoos?
Our breeding journey began in 2019, with our first litter arriving in December of that year. From the very beginning, we have placed a strong emphasis on thoughtful puppy raising, early socialisation, confidence building and creating positive foundations for family life. Our approach has continued to evolve over the years as we learn, grow and build upon the experience and guidance of those who helped shape our philosophy. We remain committed to continually improving the way we raise our puppies and providing each one with the best possible start in life.
Are you a hobby breeder or a kennel?
Neither. We’re a dedicated, in home family program focused on quality over quantity. We don’t operate a kennel operation, and we don’t produce litters for convenience or volume. At the same time, this isn’t a casual hobby. Every puppy is raised with a structured curriculum, early training and comprehensive health testing.
How many litters do you raise at a time?
We intentionally keep our programme small because every puppy deserves meaningful individual attention, care and socialisation. Our approach is centred around each puppy as an individual, and taking on more litters would mean less time and one-to-one attention for each litter. That is a compromise we simply do not want to make. During the early weeks, a small and trusted team may assist with whelping and the day-to-day care of a litter. This allows us to maintain the high level of individual attention, early socialisation and thoughtful puppy development that is so important to us.
For us, quality of care will always come before quantity.
Do you have informations I should ask when interviewing breeders?
Yes. You can find many places that have questions to ask. Many and very similar. Here is one article from Good Dog on How to choose a (cavapoo) breeder.
